2 1/2 years ago, seeing that the “leadership” of the Republican Party was driving the Party of Lincoln straight off the cliff, I resigned from the Lehigh County Republican Committee and switched my registration to “NP-no party”. Since then, I’ve seen the Republican “leadership” forfeit two US Senate Seats in Pennsylvania, lose control of the US legislature, the White House, and the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, drive droves of registered voters off their rolls, and give either tacit approval or active support of deficits and debt that have effectively made slaves of every citizen of the United States. There has been debate between those in the Republican Party who understand the spirit of “we hold these truths to be self evident” and “we the people”, and those who see involvement in government and politics as a means to self enrichment, self gratification, and self advantage. By now it should be crystal clear which side of this debate was “right”, and which side is clearly “wrong”.
Seeing how the people have risen both in Massachusetts and across the nation in revolt against the self serving politicians of our government, I took a couple of hours off this afternoon, made the trip to the Lehigh County Government Center, and re-registered as a Republican. I’m ready to join with fellow citizens to fight for a return to the limited constitutional government our founders envisioned, for the enhancement and preservation of the Liberty they established, and for the “unalienable rights” they so “rightly” recognized! The tree of Liberty must from time to time be pruned by “revolution”. 2010 is one of those times! It’s time to join in the fight!
