At a Town Hall event in Colorado President Obama framed the current health debate as a contest between hope and fear. Let me state here clearly that when it comes to empowering the federal government with the authority to handle my health care I proudly choose fear. Although benevolence is the driving force behind the Left’s drive to a national health care bill Conservatives understand federal tyranny is augmented with each new government solution.
Conservatives are always ready to assist for those who can’t fend for themselves, but they rebel against universal solutions that impose a government dictate on all.
Conversely Liberals see the government as the vehicle for social change and good. The left perceives evil in individual effort and responsibility. They believe their altruistic goals can only be achieved through government empowerment. This is their hope, that is our fear. This is the contest Obama and the left has presented this nation. Hope in big government solutions versus fear of ever expanding federal control of our lives and the national economy.
I for one share the belief of our founding father’s that a healthy dose of fear of authority is good for our Republic. They understood from their own experience that hope is something that should never be placed in the hands of a higher temporal authority.

Your words are far better than I could have expressed; for myself. But, we are of a like mind.
