Judging by his own words one can’t help but conclude that Allentown city council person Michael Donovan holds himself in high regard. Amongst other things this crusader for social justice seeks to mend the world by empowering the state. All well and good perhaps until he posts this hateful diatribe on his own ironically titled “Inclusions” blog.

Greetings:
I have decided that the ultra conservatism currently exhibited is simply horrible, and while I continue to try to be inclusive of all views, what I read and what I hear leaves me cold.
I can listen and understand a conservatives point of view, but eventually what I find is not the conservatism that is based on logical and rational thinking. Instead, what I hear are selfish and ignorant people who simply hate.
Challenge me, Tea Party and related people. I relish it. You represent the worst of American fakeness.
Best regards,
Michael
Because the left seeks social justice it incorrectly assumes small government conservatives don’t. This lack of understanding simultaneously facilitates its own self-righteousness while fueling a “justified” hatred of what it sees see as the selfishness and greed of the right. One sees this hatred on a daily basis openly and vocally directed at the Tea Party movement, the Republican Party, Conservatives and conservative organizations.
While those of us on the right disagree with the point of view of our progressive opponents most of us trust that their motives are altruistic. Clearly though, the left doesn’t return this favor.
This past week I had the opportunity to discuss politics with a well known writer from the French Caribbean. He was surprised to discover I was on “the right.” I explained to him that the right in America is not like the right in Europe. Unlike the continental right we are not interested in controlling the government for the exercise of corporate or business interests but would rather use our elected majorities to reduce the size and scope of state power and control. I further added that our goal was small government and individual liberty. He admitted this concept was a revelation to him and quite “astounding.” He then asked “Without the state then who will help the poor?” I told him conservatives believe history has demonstrated time and again that the state has proven to be a poor steward of the poor and has repeatedly failed its anti poverty goals. I stated that empowering the government to create “fairness” or achieve “social justice” creates a tyranny and that tyranny for social justice is still tyranny. He took it all in and we moved on to other subjects but what stayed with me was his admission that the small government philosophy of America’s founding fathers and the constitution of the United States was until now unknown or at best, inadequately taught to him. Perhaps conservatives need to recognize that this well educated university professor is the norm rather than the exception, that the animus directed at us springs from an intentionally and almost universally produced ignorance and/or distortion of our philosophy. Am I claiming a conspiracy? No, instead I attribute this situation to an intellectual hubris that allows otherwise critical minds to be closed to the opposing conservative philosophy. It is worrisome that within our institutions of higher learning there is little or no diversity when it comes to political philosophy. There is instead a suffocating and stifling agreement that results in the suppression of both thought and speech. To be accepted and respected by your peers as a college professor one must be on the left. In such an environment is there any doubt that indoctrination has replaced education in the most of the world’s colleges and universities?

In a White House leak to the press President Barack Obama seems to be preparing the nation for an action that follows the precedent set by his progressive predecessor President Franklin Roosevelt. An administration insider was quoted saying “Clearly times of crisis demand proportional responses therefore the presidents stands ready to take any and all actions necessary to protect the American people and this great nation from those who would cause it harm, therefore the following executive order is being readied.
Executive Order No. 2010
The President
Executive Order
Authorizing the Secretary of Defense to Prescribe Military Areas
Whereas the successful pursuit of needed legislative and executive actions requires every possible protection against resistance from troublesome right wing hate groups I therefore decree, by virtue of the authority vested in me as President of the United States, and Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy, I hereby authorize and direct the Secretary of Defense and the Military Commanders whom he may from time to time designate, whenever he or any designated Commander deems such action necessary or desirable, to prescribe military areas in such places and of such extent as he or the appropriate Military Commander may determine, from which any or all persons may be excluded, and with respect to which, the right of any person to enter, remain in, or leave shall be subject to whatever restrictions the Secretary of War or the appropriate Military Commander may impose in his discretion.
I hereby further authorize and direct the Secretary of Defense and the said Military Commanders to take such other steps as he or the appropriate Military Commander may deem advisable to enforce compliance with the restrictions applicable to each Military area hereinabove authorized to be designated, including the use of Federal troops and other Federal Agencies, with authority to accept assistance of state and local agencies.
I hereby further authorize and direct all Executive Departments, independent establishments and other Federal Agencies, to assist the Secretary of Defense or the said Military Commanders in carrying out this Executive Order, including the furnishing of medical aid, hospitalization, food, clothing, transportation, use of land, shelter, and other supplies, equipment, utilities, facilities, and services.
This order directs that all those associated with “Tea Party” or “9-12” organizations shall, for their own protection and the general well being of the nation be rounded up and placed into confinement in specially constructed camps that will be located in isolated desert areas. All detainee activities will be restricted. All detainee communications will be restricted. All detainee visits will be restricted.
As president I reserve the right to expand internments to others groups who may be deemed as presenting a danger to the American people and the agenda of Hope and Change

A troubling dynamic is emerging within the conservative ranks. Some of the loudest voices are pointing a finger of blame at the Republican Party as part of the problem. The rhetoric includes the labeling of moderate elected Republicans as “progressives”, calling the party’s actions “Democrat light” and condemning Republicans for big government solutions. This strikes me as curious. Who and what exactly is this “Republican Party” and who is to blame for them becoming part of the problem? In my mind the answer is clear, as we are in fact the Republican Party we have no one but ourselves to blame for the party not living up to its own/our principles.
The truth is that many of us who are now alarmed and outraged by the Progressives’ power grabs were previously too pre-occupied with our own lives and responsibilities to care about “Washington nonsense”. We are after all conservatives; we don’t look to Washington or the government for answers, assistance, or solutions. It is only natural that our attention was focused elsewhere when the Left was building their base and coalitions to launch their attack on liberty. The election of Obama and his ensuing radical agenda is the Conservative Pearl Harbor. We have been rudely wakened from our political slumber; our backs are against the wall and we are now reacting.
The question before us now is how best to defeat the Left’s energized and aggressive assault on the American way of life. Part of this ongoing discussion is the blame game, how did this happen and who is at fault? While it is true that the Republican Party has been part of the problem and is guilty of many sins it is also true that our own decision to not involve ourselves effectively and demand better was a factor. Had we been as energized and organized as we are now our elected Republican officials wouldn’t have dared to bring home the giant cardboard checks, they wouldn’t have voted for debt expansions and created new entitlements. The truth is they did this and more because the voices encouraging this behavior were louder than our own.
That was then, this is now. Clearly we have gotten their attention, now we must work to maintain it. By continuing to build Conservative organizations and mobilize Conservative voters we can refocus their attention to our conservative goals. This is the surest way forward to victory over the agenda of the Left.
Understanding our past errors is important but I caution us to question those who continue to point fingers, both their tactics and their motives. What is it they are really trying to accomplish?

Team Obama’s move to pass health care in the face of massive public opposition has taken on the appearance of mass hysteria. Otherwise sensible Democrats seem to share the delusion that the American public really wants something when the polls, and their own experiences, in fact tell them they don’t. The urgency and fixation they have demonstrated on this single issue borders on obsession and people have a right to question the excited and unstable mental state of America’s largest political party. Equally worrisome and another indicator of possible psychosis are the other unpopular plans the Democrats have waiting in the wings. Cap and Trade and Amnesty for Illegals are the last things the voters want congress to consider even in the good times but to bring it up in the second year of a devastating economic downturn is a clear demonstration of bizarre behavior.
Meanwhile, the Republicans, who have been cast into the minority for behavior that pales in comparison, are accused by the Democrats and most of the media of being the “party of no.” Yet, why should the GOP be expected to join in the insanity that is presently gripping Washington? They aren’t nuts.
